There’s always that one couple in the Diwali family photo who looks like they planned it. This year, that’s you.
The secret: don’t match exactly. Identical prints look like a uniform. Pick the same colour family (or one shared colour) and let each outfit have its own style. Below are 6 colour themes for couples, each with a kurta for him and a kurta set for her, and each pair costs around ₹3,000 or less in total. Everything was in stock and well rated when we checked on 17 October 2026, though sale prices change daily.

Pick your colour theme
| Theme | His kurta | Her set | Mood |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maroon + maroon | SOJANYA jacquard silk | KLOSIA anarkali | Classic, traditional |
| White chikankari | Jompers chikankari | Yashika chikankari | Elegant, minimal |
| Mustard + yellow | Tavasya printed | Nermosa anarkali palazzo | Bright, daytime |
| Bottle green | Symbol Premium embroidered | Nermosa embroidered anarkali | On-trend |
| Navy | SOJANYA sequin | LeWear embroidered cotton | Night party |
| Pink | DIVISIVE embroidered | GoSriKi straight set | Soft, modern |

1. Maroon on maroon: the safest bet
If you want the classic “Diwali couple” photo, this is it. Maroon looks rich in warm diya light and suits almost every skin tone. He wears a long silk-blend jacquard kurta; she wears a printed anarkali with dupatta.
Make it work: give him a white churidar and her gold jewellery, so you don’t merge into one big block of maroon.
His: SOJANYA jacquard silk kurta | Hers: KLOSIA maroon anarkali set
2. White chikankari: quietly stylish
Everyone else will be in bright colours, which is exactly why two white chikankari outfits stand out. It’s the “we have taste” option.
- Add one bright accent each: a maroon Nehru jacket for him, a colourful bandhani dupatta for her.
- Keep jewellery silver or pearl for a clean look.
- White and haldi don’t mix well, so keep the stain pen ready.
His: Jompers chikankari kurta | Hers: Yashika chikankari georgette set

3. Mustard and yellow: the daytime pair
For the Lakshmi puja and daytime photos, mustard (him) and yellow (her) look coordinated without being identical. Keep both bottoms white or cream and the photo does the rest.
His: Tavasya mustard printed kurta | Hers: Nermosa yellow anarkali palazzo set
4. Bottle green: this year’s colour
Green and gold is the combination of the season. Gold mojaris for him, gold jhumkas for her, and you’re set.
His: Symbol Premium green embroidered kurta | Hers: Nermosa green embroidered anarkali
5. Navy for the card party
Navy is smarter than black and much better in night photos. His kurta has subtle sequins; hers is pure cotton with embroidery. Add a pop of colour with her dupatta or his pocket square.
His: SOJANYA navy sequin kurta | Hers: LeWear navy cotton set
6. Pink: for couples who skip the usual
Not into maroon and yellow? Pink is fresh and looks lovely in photos. Let him go lighter with a white churidar while she wears the deeper pink.
His: DIVISIVE pink embroidered kurta | Hers: GoSriKi pink straight set
The 4 rules of couple dressing
- Coordinate, don’t copy. Same colour family, different prints or textures.
- One shared accent: gold, white or a common colour in his jacket and her dupatta.
- Match the effort level. If she’s in a heavy anarkali, he shouldn’t show up in a casual short kurta.
- Order early. Diwali is on 8 November 2026, so leave time for two size exchanges, not one.
Quick answers
Which colours look best for couples on Diwali?
Maroon, white with gold, mustard and yellow, bottle green, and navy all photograph well together.
Should we wear exactly the same print?
Better not. The same colour family with different styles looks more stylish and less like a uniform.
Toh final kya?
First Diwali together? Go maroon on maroon, because the family photo will be framed. Want to look different from everyone else? Go white chikankari.
Shopping separately? See Diwali kurtas for men under ₹1,000 and Diwali kurta sets for women under ₹1,500.
