Every Diwali there’s that one family photo that goes to every relative on WhatsApp. This year, make it the one where everyone actually looks coordinated, without spending ₹15,000 on new clothes.
Below are two colour themes for the whole family (dad, mom, son and daughter), with real outfits from Amazon. Each full family look comes to roughly ₹3,000–4,000 in total. Everything was in stock with good reviews when we checked on 17 October 2026, but sale prices change daily, so check before you buy.
The two family looks at a glance
| Who | Maroon theme | Yellow and mustard theme |
|---|---|---|
| Dad | SOJANYA maroon jacquard kurta | Tavasya mustard printed kurta |
| Mom | KLOSIA maroon anarkali set | Nermosa yellow anarkali palazzo set |
| Son | AHHAAAA kurta + waistcoat + pyjama | AJ DEZINES printed kurta pyjama |
| Daughter | HILEELANG printed lehenga choli | Same lehenga in cream or multicolour |
| Approx. total | ₹3,500–4,000 | ₹3,000–3,500 |

Look 1: The maroon family
Maroon is the most festive Diwali colour, and it looks rich in warm diya light. The trick is to keep everyone in the same colour family, not the same print.
Dad: SOJANYA Jacquard Silk Long Kurta (Maroon)
A long silk-blend kurta with a woven texture that looks a lot richer than its price. Pair it with a white pyjama and golden mojaris.
Mom: KLOSIA Rayon Printed Anarkali Set (Maroon)
Anarkali, pant and dupatta in one order, with over 10,000 ratings. Gold jhumkas finish the look.
Son: AHHAAAA Kids Silk Blend Kurta, Waistcoat and Pyjama (3 piece)
A mini version of the kurta-and-Nehru-jacket look. Kids love the “jacket like papa” feeling, and it photographs beautifully.
Daughter: HILEELANG Printed Lehenga Choli
A floral printed lehenga choli with very strong reviews. It comes in shades like baby pink, pink-white, cream and multicolour. Pick baby pink or pink-white: pink sits beautifully next to mom’s maroon.
Look 2: The yellow and mustard family
Perfect for the Lakshmi puja and daytime photos. Bright, happy and a little different from the usual maroon.
- Dad: Tavasya mustard printed kurta with a white pyjama.
- Mom: Nermosa yellow anarkali palazzo set: comfortable for a long day.
- Son: AJ DEZINES cotton printed kurta pyjama: soft cotton, easy for kids to move in.
- Daughter: the same HILEELANG lehenga choli in the cream or multicolour shade, which goes well with yellow.

Tips for dressing kids for Diwali
- Cotton first. Kids run around all evening. Silk and heavy embroidery get itchy fast.
- No long dupattas or very flowy sleeves near diyas and crackers.
- Size up. Kids’ ethnic sets often run small, and they’ll grow into it for the wedding season.
- Carry a backup T-shirt. Sweets will happen.
Quick answers
Should the whole family wear the same colour?
Same colour family, yes. Exactly the same print, no. It looks like a uniform. Maroon, pink and gold together look better than four identical maroon outfits.
How much should a family Diwali outfit cost?
With the picks above, a full family of four can be dressed for about ₹3,000–4,000.
Toh kaunsa theme?
Big evening puja and lots of photos? Go maroon. Daytime puja and a relaxed day at home? Go yellow and mustard.
